Hope – New Children’s Book About Family Violence

What a whirlwind couple of weeks it’s been! Level Playground is so proud to showcase the project we’ve been involved in for the last little while, now that it’s officially launched and out into the world- Hope! Celebrated children’s author Jayneen Sanders, and publishing company Educate2Empower, along with Eastern Domestic Violence Service (EDVOS) and Anglicare Victoria, have worked together to bring Hope to life.

Hope is a book for children who are living in family violence homes or who are recovering after having experience family violence. It is designed to be read with a trusted adult, and aims to provide children with a sense of hope for the future, and to lessen the traumatic effects of their own living situations.
Hope was developed to help provide a safe and supportive response when children disclose their experience of family violence. Supporting documents that accompany the book help adults to support vulnerable children – there’s a safety planning worksheet, suggestions for how to use the book effectively as a resource, signs that a child may be experiencing family violence, and contact details for organisations that can provide further support and assistance.
It’s been such an amazing journey working with Jayneen Sanders, EDVOS and Anglicare Victoria to see this book become a reality. We know how important this resource is, and what a difference it can make to children living with family violence. We firmly endorse the key messages of the book – that family violence is never the child’s fault, and that there is always hope that things can change.
